Its distinct geology and geography, uniquely position it somewhere between the picturesque and the otherworldly. Weightless Traces is a performative walking project and ephemeral survey of this land. Enacted by a group of hikers equipped with airborne flotations, a journey in which the relationship between the human and environment is amplified through collective movement. Venturing off the trodden path, each step, each gust of wind redefines the travellers connection to the terrain. Stationary moments become time stamps that look to reframe negative space, altering sense of scale, perspective, and perception. Locally referred to as the “sea”, the 48,700,000,000 cubic meters of water held within its reservoir stand to represent the staggering ability of our constructed-objects to alter the environment. Such is the scale of this process, the dam has affected local seismic activity and hydrological cycles such as the drying of the Euphrates river.&nbsp; Referencing the rock-filled construction of the dam, a series of water basins have been placed on the Belören shoreline of Atatürk Barajı. The tops of the basins mark the water-level of the reservoir at its peak. Installed during low level, the basins were filled by hand - artificially elevating the water table. When left empty through evaporation, the rising dam at its peak will flood the containers - this cycle is ongoing. Through a process of fieldwork and subsequent letter correspondence, a series of interventions explores a potential of Geomancy to expand conventional architectural methodology in search of deeper connection to our living world - asking the question; what does a geomantic world look like? The Hohenwart Forum at the edge of the Black Forrest is a site of special interest to Pforzheim Geomancy Group. Through collaborative site-survey, places of significance were located and a process of maintenance and care established. Clearing the overgrowth of a PVC wire fence, a rotated-square cut-out is made to the threshold creating a space for both visual and personal connection to the water. Encased within the portal-frame, a poem composed from letter correspondence with Pforzheim Geomancy Group is etched into mirror. A temporary walking route introduces the public to the practice. Translating geomantic site-survey into a spiral of uncut lawn and printed map, visitors are lead round the ground’s high-energy sites - ending at the portal-frame. Between the Hohenwart Forum and the Schmuckmuseums courtyard a portal is established. A twinning of two bodies of water based on geomantic principles. Placed in the water, a floating garden represents a celestial mapping of Statdparken (the museums adjacent green space). Held at the heart of the garden is an aluminium frame identical to the one at the Hohenwart Forum. The Aluminium frame encases the second half of a mirror-etched poem composed from letter correspondence between the artists and Pforzheim Geomancy Group. Most commonly mined for its use in permanent magnets, it has been widely used in advanced technologies since the end of the 20th century. As our material world fluctuates between the tangible and intangible, might we think of extraction not simply as a process of separation, but also an important mode of connection to the ground? Considering our reliance on magnetism, the work seeks to explore the technologically visible and invisible worlds through the materiality of metal, air and time. A moment of suspended animation is created within the ever moving terraformed landscape of recycled building material. Dominated by airport infrastructure and busy highways it is also home to some unique parklands. Twice Between Two Points explores the act of getting lost somewhere. Starting at opposite ends of Hounslow, two walkers attempt to find each others markers without using maps - navigating via green space, relying solely on compass and directions from local people. The two journeys were audio recorded. The two points in Osterley Park and Bedfont Park were marked on site with &nbsp;plaques and the two audio recordings were overlaid and compressed into a sound composition accessed via a QR code; Commissioned by Creative People &amp; Places Hounslow, as part of Wanderings residency. Ancient monuments and earth-works embedded into the landscape serve as captivating reminder of humans’ reverance to the land. These celebratory landscapes evoke a strong sense of harmony with natural environment and attach sacrality to land - kept alive to this day through generational storytelling. On arrival a tempory land art intervention was made using chalk stone. &nbsp;GPS data from the walk was carved into foraged chalk (85 million years old) blocks and the land art intervention engraved onto a copper coin inlayed onto marine salvaged greenheart timber (Guana). XZ depicts the metres above sea level, XY depicts the latitude and longitude.
